What is a Scaffold Design service?
Our design services encompass both site-specific and generic drawings, meticulously crafted to comply with British Standards, Euro Codes, and NASC guidelines. We prioritise close collaboration with our clients to ensure that our designs meet their unique needs and project requirements.
Our approach to this service
By leveraging our clients existing stock and resources, we aim to deliver economical, cost-effective design solutions without compromising on quality or safety. This approach allows us to provide tailored and efficient solutions that align with industry standards and budget considerations.
1. Draft/Concept Designs
Draft/concept designs are essential in the engineering process for several reasons:
Foundation for Planning: These designs serve as the initial blueprint, outlining the project’s scope, scale, and feasibility. They help in visualising the final structure and ensure that all involved have a clear understanding of the project’s goals and requirements
Feasibility and Viability: Early designs allow our engineers and clients to assess the practicality of the project. This includes evaluating site conditions, material availability, and budget constraints. It helps in identifying potential challenges and making necessary adjustments before detailed designs are developed
Cost Estimation: Preliminary designs are used to create initial cost estimates. This helps in budgeting and financial planning, ensuring that the project remains within financial constraints and identifying areas where cost savings can be achieved
2. Approval Designs
Pre-construction approval designs are crucial for several reasons:
Safety Assurance: Approval designs help verify that the structure will be safe and stable. This includes ensuring that the design can withstand environmental factors like wind, snow, and other potential hazards
Quality Assurance: These designs provide a clear and detailed plan for construction, ensuring that all materials and methods meet the required standards. This helps maintain the quality and integrity of the final structure
Coordination and Communication: Pre-construction designs facilitate better communication among our clients & end users. This ensures that everyone is on the same page and reduces the likelihood of misunderstandings or errors
Risk Mitigation: Detailed and approved designs help in identifying and mitigating potential risks early in the project. This includes assessing structural integrity, environmental impact, and other critical factors
3. AFC Designs
Having Approved for Construction (AFC) structural designs offers several key benefits:
Safety and Stability: These designs confirm and highlight to all that the scaffold will be safe and stable, especially when relying on support from, ground conditions, existing walls, roofs etc.
Risk Mitigation: These AFC designs help clearly identify and mitigate potential risks, such as structural integrity issues, pedestrian interface (site operatives &/or the general public) and environmental impact. These items would also be highlighted within the accompanying Designers Risk Assessment (DRA)
Streamlined Construction Process: With approved designs, the erection/dismantling phases can proceed more smoothly and efficiently, as all necessary details and specifications are clearly outlined and have been agreed upon by all the relevant parties
